Mental Performance
Mental strength and performance is a integral part of the Champion Health model. By focusing specifically on the mental health, state and wellness of our athletes, we are able to ensure that they are thriving both on and off the field.
In order to dedicate the proper resources to the mental health of our NCAA Division I athletes, we have established both counseling and neuroscience resources.
Mental health counseling is available to student-athletes. It can be accessed through their athletic trainer with meetings happening right in the Liberty Athletic Center. These services are confidential and provided by a licensed mental health professional.
Whether it is one session or many, students can meet with the therapist to work through and process a variety of common challenges faced by many of our athletes.
Mental health treatment can aid performance and confidence or give support to interpersonal situations, student discipline, symptom management, or even as an advocate for mental health complications in areas related to learning.
The Champion Performance Institute's commitment to holistic student-athlete development realizes that improving athletic performance entails more than just becoming bigger, faster and stronger.
To be truly resilient and able to thrive (not just survive) in an environment that demands stress for growth requires training strategies that address not only your physical body but the "you" inside of you. It requires a unique development approach that addresses both the physical body and the inner aspects of mental, neural, spiritual and emotional health and the seamless connection between all parts of you; COHERENCE.
Liberty University has teamed with Royer Neuroscience to provide neuro-performance and neuro-wellness centers embedded within our four walls to help student-athletes achieve higher levels of resilience. Our labs are outfitted with the technology and tools to evaluate, train and improve neural and autonomic nervous system function and control.
